About Nathan.

Nathan was a kind soul who loved everyone.  The picture was when we visited a children’s home in Africa and he just loved on those kids.  He wanted to bring them all home.

Nathan was born in Iowa in January 2005 and was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma cancer in March of 2017.  He went home to be with the Lord on July 4th 2020.

Nathan’s favorite bible verse was:

Joshua 1:9 NIV

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.

Bethany and Nathan.

A bit about Bethany Husby…

As a pediatric nurse on a bone marrow transplant unit for 35 years, I had the honor of being one of Nathan’s nurses during his courageous battle with cancer. I was drawn to Nathan and his family’s strong faith in Christ. I likewise have a strong faith, which in a somewhat circuitous route led me to help children in another capacity.  In 2017 I began fund-raising efforts to build and support a school in Tanzania, Africa. The school opened in 2018 with 32 children and since has expanded to serve 266 boys and girls. Our aim is to provide an education for young people to empower them to achieve their potential.  We seek to grow the school through grade 7.  I am blessed to have committed supporters both here and in Tanzania.

While taking care of Nathan, I noticed a quote written on the white board in his room, “Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything.” I wrote that down and have it by my computer to remind me daily that God is in control; we simply need to pray.

Being true to Nathan’s favorite Bible verse, the Njoroge family is carrying out God’s command: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” I am honored that through Nathan’s Children’s Fund, our school children in Tanzania will be blessed, and the Njoroge charity will continue to bless other children in developing countries.
